Manual Batches

Card Not Present manual batching allows Merchants to control when their funds reach their bank account. By closing a batch via API, a store can ensure their transactions are settled at time of close or end of shift to account for easier reconciliation or tip adjustments. This feature is in a controlled rollout, please reach out to our Support team to see if your account is eligible.

Integration Checklist

Whether you're an ISV tracking your own integration or a reseller keeping tabs on your partners, the new Integration Checklist gives everyone real-time visibility into where things stand. ISVs can see their progress item by item - creating API keys, submitting a merchant application, collecting a first payment, and more - right from their Dashboard. Resellers get a single view across all of their ISVs, with a progress bar and certification status for each. Either way, items check off automatically as real integration steps happen, and you'll be notified the moment a partner is certified.

Card Vaulting for In-Person Payments

Card vaulting allows you to securely attach card-present payment methods to customers for future use.

How to Vault an In-Person Payment Method

1. Create a card-present payment method and process an in-person payment: Start by creating a card_present payment method and use it for a card-present transaction.

2. Attach the payment method to a customer: Once the payment method has been successfully used on a Terminal Reader, it can be attached to a customer's profile. Payment methods must be used within 15 minutes of creation; otherwise, they expire and cannot be attached.

3. Reuse for future transactions: Vaulted card-present payment methods can be utilized for subsequent transactions by specifying card_present as the payment_method_type in the Payment Intent.

Important Considerations

Manage Receipt Printing for In-Person Payments

Printed receipts can be turned on and off for individual Terminal Readers. By default, all new Terminal Readers will be created with printed receipts turned off. Learn how to turn on printed receipts >

Receipts settings can also be configured via the Update a Terminal Reader endpoint in our API.

Partner and Merchant Help Centers

We've given our in-app FAQ page a face lift with our newly launched Zendesk-hosted help centers, designed to enhance the support experience by replacing the in-app FAQ page. Partners now have exclusive access to a Tilled-branded help center, which offers resources specifically tailored to their needs. In contrast, merchants can utilize a separate, merchant-specific help center featuring generic branding. Both help centers are readily accessible from the console – partners have the privilege of accessing both help centers, while merchants are limited to their dedicated help center.

Auth Links API

Auth Links, also known as “magic links”, enable partners to offer password-less authentication and customized redirection. This feature enhances the ease of integration for developers and improves the user experience by allowing direct, tailored access to various functionalities within Tilled.

Passwordless Authentication

One of the key advantages of Auth Links is passwordless authentication. Users can securely log into Tilled without the need to remember or enter a password. This feature is particularly valuable in mobile applications or scenarios where entering a password is inconvenient or challenging. An example use case is forwarding a merchant directly to the merchant application from a partner's application, enhancing user experience and efficiency.

URL Redirect

Developers have the ability to specify the exact landing page for a user with the redirect_url property. At a basic level, this means a developer could directly send a merchant or partner user to a specific page, like the reports page, by including a redirect URL such as /reports. The feature also allows for more complex implementations, like adding additional parameters to set a specific date range or merchant, offering a highly tailored user experience. This level of customization and precision is particularly useful for creating a seamless and intuitive user journey.

Ready to play with magic? Check out our Auth Links API >

Hosted Checkout

Hosted Checkout enables partners and merchants to start collecting payments faster. Tilled’s Hosted Checkout offering consists of two solutions: Checkout Sessions API and Payment Links. Both solutions leverage our hosted payment page, enabling you to skip the complex and time-consuming process of building and maintaining your own hosted payment page.

Checkout Sessions API

The Checkout Sessions API is a low-code option for partners to generate a checkout session URL, which can be used to redirect customers to a hosted payment page. The Checkout Sessions API supports:

Processing Summary Report

The Processing Summary report is now available for download in the partner and merchant consoles, as well as via the Report Run endpoint. The Processing Summary report provides a comprehensive overview of a merchant's processing activities, broken down by transaction type (charges, refunds, disputes, etc.).

The report is particularly useful for partners to compare transaction processing among their associated merchants. This comparison can help partners to:

For merchants, this report is valuable in understanding their overall processing makeup. This means it helps them to:

Merchant Fees Report

The Merchant Fees report is now available for download in the partner and merchant consoles, as well as through our API using the Report Run endpoint. This report provides a detailed view of fees incurred by merchants, making it particularly beneficial for merchants seeking an in-depth understanding of their processing costs.

The report's emphasis on the original transaction date makes it especially relevant for merchants adhering to the accrual accounting method.

Update Merchant Pricing Prior to Application Submission

The process of creating merchant applications now allows for more flexibility. Partners can create an application without immediately deciding on the pricing. This is most useful for partners that want to initiate the merchant application process, but are still negotiating with merchants on pricing. Applications will remain in a ‘requires pricing’ status until the pricing has been introduced.

This feature is accessible exclusively through our API using the Update Account Capability endpoint.
